Rawls contra Rawls: Legitimacy, Normative Impact, and the Basic Structure

In this paper, I contrast two approaches to political legitimacy, both influenced by Rawls. One is the classic liberal picture, according which a state legitimate if its “constitutional essentials” could be endorsed reasonable citizens. The alternative idea that what makes primarily success at organizing basic structure in way demonstrably favorable governed. Specifically, suggest insofar as it organizes manner easier for citizens behave justly towards one another and adopt autonomous choices. then move demonstrate superiority of normative impact solution problem legitimacy vis-à-vis liberalism, even when disagreement about justice factored in.
